Vasily Aleksanyan has had operation to remove his spleen

It became known on Tuesday that Vasily Aleksanyan had an operation last Friday to remove his spleen.

Information about the forthcoming operation was first made public in the Simonovsky district court in Moscow on 20 October. “For the sake of compassion and humanity I request that my client’s detention in custody not be extended: we do not want a guard sitting next to him in the operating theatre,” Aleksanyan’s lawyer Yelena Lvova then appealed to the court. Custody was, nevertheless, again extended.

His lawyers do not want to comment on Aleksanyan’s condition and morale before they have seen him again.
